Love Isn't Science

Love Is Not An Excuse To Do Dumb 'ish

What is Love?
Love is “a strong positive emotion of regard and affection”. Well that’s seems so easy and makes love seem so black and white, but we know that’s not true. Maybe we should insist that love can’t be defined, that it’s beyond the reach of rational thought: that we fall in and out of love in a way that is out of our control. All we can do is hope for the best and hold on for this up and down roller coaster, because it’s cupids arrow shooting straight through the heart, striking anywhere at any time! Love is a lot like a axe murderer, or an aneurysm, or a stroke, or dementia. Love is just a unpredictable occurrence! We don’t really need to define it. I know, I know, I make love sound so less than romantic, so unattractive. I have nothing against romance! You can still be romantic while maintaining that love is an understandable emotion. Just be rational! And don’t do stuff and use “I was in love!” as the justification. That’s not love: that’s responsibility deflection. So again let’s be rational about love and keep the scientific feeling’s out of it.

Agreed - love cannot be defined. Well, it can and will be ... but it's all just a waste of time as many have come to find.

I believe the reason: our definition or idea of LOVE as it pertains to Earth is hardly what the emotion is meant to be, in its heavenly form.

You are always on point with your posts. Love cant be defined, and everyone wont experience true love in life. Crazy. Nice post

@Don....I couldn't agree wit u more

@Ms Kay....Thankyou! I totally agree, but not because it's not there just because they are looking in the wrong places.

You hit the nail on the head! Love is an act of surrendering, it's rare, it's unpredictable, it can be the most beautiful thing and cause you the most pain, but it's worth it.

Love is a difficult word to define & there are, of course, many different kinds of love.
Love (in the sense of 2 people in love) is a roller coaster of feeling & emotions. A relationship based on this foundation takes a lot of dedicated hard work, compromise, understanding, good communication & co-operation. It is beautiful, it is most definitely worth it.... but it is not easy.

Amen . It is far from an excuse to be dumb . Although many people like to use it as an excuse to be.

25champ said...

@Mizrepresent.....I agree it can be "the most beautiful thing" and the most hurtful. true. The love we desire requires work. So many people aren't willing 2 put in the much needed work that why so many relationships fail. It's def a takes 2.

@Shay....True dat!

So true at Duke University's men basketball program being well coached, since Coach K. arrived on the scene. Not only that, but Duke has slayed some spectacular basketball teams along their road to glory.

When they beat Michigan in '92 NCAA title game, our entire neighborhood was sad as if their had been a funeral.

Love is an emotion that words cant jusitfy...Love can only be felt...With your heart and soul... :)

@JStar...So true!

Hi Champ:

I'm totally agreeing with you!
Wouldn't life be a little simpler if everyone was allowed to view and act out love as they saw it? But we both know that's not realistic LOL...

Creole Darling said...

Wow. People are always trying to define Love and break it down as if it only holds one meaning. Love is everything, so much more than an emotion or pda.

25champ said...

@Meagan.....It def would be simpler.

@Creole true.

To some extent, I agree with "...don’t do stuff and use “I was in love!” as the justification. But on the other hand, some people really do feel that when they act out of character, it is all in the name of love - for why else would they do it?

While love isn't black and white, it certainly is a multitude of other things that make it difficult to define.

There are underlying factors. Here is one:
You may have the girl whose first date wasn't with her father, thus doesn't clearly know how to define love. Along comes the first sign of "healthy" attention, and she believes it's love and proceeds without any protection of her heart. She is convinced she is in love and that the feeling is being reciprocated.

She is able to say "I did it because I was in love" because she knows no better. She didn't have a model to follow. She becomes accustomed to the trial and error stage...each time still thinking she did "it" because she was in love.

@Traci Lavette.... I feel u sis, but that's like saying that ignorance is correct. Her not knowing what love is it what provoked her actions, but most of the time when the dust settles you find out that you really wasn't in love. Most people don't have the proper model to follow even when they have both parents they still may c a bad representation of love. At the end of the day as we grow we know what right and wrong is. If your love has you doing things that you shouldn't be doing then there you go.I appreciate your point of view and thanks 4 stopping by.

Love definitely defies an actual well as logic. It is what it is.

I said the SAME thing a couple weeks ago. This grown woman told me "love will have you doing some crazy stuff". I got defensive like love was my birth child. I said love doesn't have you doing anything!! It's the lack of common sense, or poor judgment, or retaliation... or tens of thousands of other reasons that causes you to behave in an usual or peculiar way. If "love" is beleived to be the blame for anything, then love probably isn't even present... some other wacky emotion is...

25champ said...

@Just "J"......I couldn't agree wit u more :)

I agree. I totally wish love was something we could control. I'd have an on/off switch on mine! As soon as I feel the light was getting dim, I'd hit the off switch in order to avoid a complete blackout...I'd save myself the headache:)

@Jasmine....lls thanks 4 stopping by.

I agree that some preception of love gets tainted by the wrong ppl who neva had love. Whether u come from a single parent home or with both. by not knowin that wut u hav had wasnt right kind, it leaves u open to all sorts of doors that should never b opened. And if u neva gotten it as well can affect all avenues of ur life. I think the purest kind of Love is God's. In the wrong hands Love can be dangerous n the right hands it can b the most beautiful gift God can give . Love cant always be defined completely but when u do find it u will kno. @Champ great post;)

@peaches27 couldn't agree more...and thanks :)
